Role Title – Radiological Consequences Technical Lead
Location – Warrington, Derby or Remote Working

We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Radiological Consequences Technical Lead.
Purpose for the Role
The role will involve working alongside the design, performance, and safety teams to understand the technical nature of the reactor plant design and producing Radiological Consequences analysis which characterises system performance, informs intelligent design decisions and ultimately verifies the performance and safety of the final design.
The successful candidate will develop a strategy and forward programme that supports design development as well as completion of the Generic Design Assessment regulatory process. They will build and lead a team to develop robust and validated analysis methods using industry standard codes and methods.
The Radiological Consequences Technical Lead will be expected to contribute and learn from the wider safety and technical community within the nuclear industry, as well as coach and mentor the engineers within their team.
• Responsible for the development of Radiological Consequence analysis during design basis and severe accidents, including worker dose in accident scenarios, in line with best practice and to standard policies and processes, to support the substantiation of a nuclear power station design that meet all SMR project requirements.
• Apply technical expertise to direct the Radiological Consequences analysis programme, including definition of the analysis basis, selection and justification of appropriate method, and technical supervision to supporting analysts.
• Define and manage requirement traceability from design through to analysis, models, and method validation.

Candidate Overview
• Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Physics, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered Engineer/Physicist with design experience including responsibility for technically leading complex thermal hydraulic analysis programmes.
• Experience delivering severe accident consequence analysis for a nuclear site.
• Sound knowledge of nuclear reactor systems design, operations, etc. including sound knowledge of relevant design codes, including systems engineering.
Radiological Consequence Analysis Methods:
• Experience of using numerical tools and software
• Experience in performing off-site atmospheric dispersion analysis.
• Experienced in performing public dose assessments.
• Knowledge of the theory of radiation induced health effects in humans and risk quantification in human populations.
• Understanding of the evolving ICRP radiation protection framework/modern computational methods e.g. voxel phantoms
Nuclear Safety Analysis and Safety Cases:
• Probabilistic safety assessment methods
• Design basis fault assessment methods
• UK Safety Case and Regulatory practises
• Severe Accident Phenomena and analysis methods (e.g. the use of accident codes)
Nuclear industry domain knowledge including:
• Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) design, plant, and behaviour,
• Severe accident systems, phenomena, and chemistry.
• Environmental, Safety, Security and Safeguarding (E3S) regulations and principals (including application of As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) and Best Available Technique (BAT) principals).
Technical task delivery, including:
• Definition of a project/programme of work.
• Delivery of programme milestones in line with agreed plans and budgets.
• Management of risks.
• Monitoring of progress.
• Technical writing and communication
Pay and benefits
We anticipate a paying a competitive salary, a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions. You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

• Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
