The Role:
The available roles are multidisciplinary, covering rail control systems, signalling and
telecommunications, data transmission, electrification, traction power and civil infrastructure
such as tunnel M&E installations and station builds.
The roles necessitate skills in the following disciplines: Rail Systems Assurance, Verification and
Validation (V&V), Requirements Management, Configuration Management, Reliability,
Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) and Rail System Integration.
Essential Skills/Knowledge:
- Substantial technical experience of one or more rail infrastructure engineering
specialisms, such as ETCS, CBTC, TMS, GSM-R, Railway Signalling &
Telecommunications, Operational Control Systems and SCADA.
- Demonstrable experience in activities and techniques such as V&V, Requirements,
Configuration, Scope Management, Change Management, RAMS and System
Integration.
- Experience of rail infrastructure safety engineering throughout the various stages of
the project lifecycle, including design, construction, testing, commissioning, systems
integration, trial running and handover.
- Experience of safety engineering methodologies, including the Common Safety
Method on Risk Evaluation and Assessment.
- Knowledge of the development and review of system-wide Safety Cases (civil
infrastructure, tunnelling, stations, signalling, track, traction power, data transmission
systems, communications etc.).
- Demonstrable knowledge and application of rail industry standards and international
best practice.
- Engineering Degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively
communicate with internal and external customers
- Excellent computer proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to speak English at business level
