The Company

This vibrant entrepreneurial food brand is passionate about innovation, science and health with an unrelenting drive to bring consumers delightful delectations that are joyous but not a guilty pleasure. The R&D team is growing and we are looking for an inspirational scientist with a curious, results driven and collaborative mind-set.

The Role

A trusted member of the R&D team, you will be using your scientific knowledge and data analysis skills to constantly improve the quality and nutritional standards of the whole product range. You will develop new product opportunities that are appropriate for the brand by generating insight and conducting sound scientific research to support NPD ideation. This will include designing experiments, analysing data, reporting findings and creating methodology.

You will be key in identifying areas for development, delving into scientific documents and research papers to pinpoint relevant studies, and working to understand specific interactions to help enhance the final products flavour, texture, or smell.

You will also be responsible for running production trials, getting hands on making recipes at scale in order to compare the performance of varying levels or varieties of ingredients, and evaluating the effects this has on the finished product.

You will liaise with all levels of the business, having the opportunity to influence decisions and have a real impact on future growth plans.

The Candidate

Suit a talented Food Scientist with a degree in Food Technology/Science or related discipline, with experience working in the food industry in a research style role. Bakery sector experience would be advantageous, but most importantly you are curious, experimental, and able to excel in a start-up environment.

You’ll have credible experience of planning experiments, getting hands on with running these at both laboratory and bench scale. You are rigorous in recording and reporting data in order to validate your results against your hypothesis. You must also be skilled in the use of analytical equipment such as texture analysers, moisture balances and water activity meters.

Brimming with confidence and perseverance, you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have organisational skills that allow you to operate independently, communicate on all levels, and consistently solve all problems posed in a timely manner.

This role is varied so you must be comfortable pivoting quickly and finding solutions within a business that is ever-changing. Lastly you have an absolute fascination of food, ingredients and technology, and are keen to work at the cutting edge of food science.

If you want to be part of this brand’s journey, then then apply now or call us on 0345 2600 737 for more information.
