St Anthony’s School for Boys is looking to recruit a talented, energetic and ambitious Reception class teacher. The post holder will have experience of working in an Early Years setting and knowledge of the EYFS framework. At St. Anthony’s we are passionate about developing our staff, so this post would be ideal for somebody who wishes to progress into an Early Years leadership position. The successful candidate will have high academic expectations in terms of what our youngest pupils can achieve, and will thrive in a busy and purposeful environment where no two days are the same.
Planning, Teaching & Class Management
- Ensure effective teaching of the pupils in Reception so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintatined and best use is made of teaching time.
- Plan lessons and sequences of lessons in line with the EYFS framework expectations to meet pupils’ individual learning needs and plan effectively to ensure that pupils have the opportunity to meet their potential, taking account of the needs of pupils who are underachieving or very able.
- Secure a high standard of pupil behaviour in the classroom, through establishing appropriate rules and high expectations of discipline which pupils respect and use a range of appropriate strategies for teaching and classroom management.
Monitoring & Assessment
- Assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use this assessment to inform future teaching.
- Monitor pupils' achievements and development in class, providing constructive oral and written feedback, setting targets for future progress.
- Set clear targets for improvement of pupils' achievement and monitor pupils' progress towards those targets.
Performance and Development
- Understand the need to take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy and in the subjects they teach.
- Understand their professional responsibilities in relation to school policies and practices
- Set a good example to the pupils through presentation and personal conduct

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Excellent professional knowledge and understanding, including of recent developments in the curriculum, and of a range of pedagogical approaches to raise attainment.
- A thorough knowledge of the EYFS framework and experience of working in an Early Years setting.
- Willingness to be flexible and take on additional duties as and when required.
