The Department of Aeronautics is seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the pre-enrolment strategy and processes for its taught programmes including recruitment, Admissions and Outreach. This is a newly-created role and presents an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference from day one for our students and the staff engaged with these processes.
Duties and responsibilities
As Recruitment, Admissions and Outreach Manager, you will:
- Lead the Department’s student recruitment strategy working with internal teams as well as developing effective working relationships with central support services.
- Implement, improve and oversee admissions processes and policy
- Use expert knowledge and excellent skills in communication to create a high quality admissions experience including managing email queries, and developing communication strategies and information materials.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate departmental outreach activities.
- Manage the delivery of departmental outreach activities
- Identify emerging trends, monitor and interpret data on diversity in academia and industry impacting on outreach and provide regular reporting.
- Ensure the design of outreach activities is based on cutting edge research taking place in the Department of Aeronautics and work with academics on the development of these activities as well as how outreach activities can be developed alongside research grants
Essential requirements
- Degree, ideally in an engineering subject.
- Understanding of student recruitment and application processes as well as the major issues which affect universities and the needs of the academic environment.
- Well-developed communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts in engineering
- The ability to interact and present to potential students and senior leaders in further education.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
