About us

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We know that together we can end it.

This role will work with people experiencing homelessness to share their stories, ensuring their voices are front and centre in our communications.

Location:  Based in London with some travel required and hybrid working available (see Job Description for details).

About the role

As Stories Officer, you will work closely with Crisis members and other people experiencing homelessness to share their stories as powerful, member-centred content.

You will provide all the information individuals need to make an informed decision about taking part and support them through the process. You’ll work with people across Crisis to identify and shape opportunities to share stories in our work. You will have lots of opportunities to approach stories creatively and support the development of our growing Stories Function.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a creative storyteller who is able to collaborate and build relationships with a wide variety of people.

You’ll be a great writer and editor who loves to build interesting stories. You may have experience interviewing people, and you’ll definitely enjoy building relationships and rapport with others. You may have experience in photography or in working with people or communities to create visual representations in other ways.

You will be passionate about supporting people to get their voice heard, and about ending homelessness. Your knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and your attention to detail will ensure processes are followed to share stories safely and ethically.

You’ll be able to manage your work independently and balance multiple projects and competing priorities, as well as work as part of a team.

You may have experience in; stories roles, journalism, PR and media, marketing, campaigning, oral history, co-production, photography, videography, content production.
