The role of a Registered Nurse in our Learning Disability services is a key position in our mission to provide excellent and inclusive care. The Registered Nurse is a leadership role, you will play a vital part in managing the care of our residents and providing high-quality and person-centred care. The Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans tailored to the individual needs of our residents.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide hands on nursing care and support to residents with learning disabilities, including assistance with activities of daily living, medication administration and clinical interventions.
- Manage the assessment, implementation and evaluation of individual resident care plans that promote wellbeing, independence, and quality of life.
- Communicate the care plans to the care team both verbally and in writing, ensuring all safety intervention, care planning and risk assessment documentation is kept up to date and in line with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the care delivered is based on the Positive Behaviour Support Model of care and that the values of this model are embedded in the Home.
- Ensure effective communication of any developments relating to resident care to the multidisciplinary teams supporting the resident and the care team.
- Lead the team in the absence of the Unit Manager or Deputy Manager to manage the staffing and clinical needs as required.
- Support and coach team members in best practice of resident care, including new team members, working with the Home Manager to ensure that all team members receive a comprehensive induction and have a positive working environment.
- Responsibility for medication management and documentation in line with regulatory guidance.
- Responsibility, with the Home team, for the confidentiality, security and accuracy of resident records, data and information.
- Lead the team through supervision and support, demonstrating consistent and effective leadership.
- Stay up to date with current developments, best practice and evidence-based interventions in learning disability nursing through continuous learning and professional development.
- Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager.
About you
- Right to work in the UK.
- Registered Nurse with active NMC registration
- Confident and competent in complex situations relation to resident care
- Passionate about excellent care
- Previous care home experience is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working in a care or support environment for people with learning disability or complex needs.
- Ability to work independently and supervise a team.
- A good standard of written and oral English.
- A compassionate, non-judgemental approach to others.
- Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high standard quality care to our residents.
- Respectful to not only residents but the teams beliefs and values.
