We are delighted to be representing a Social Housing organisation based in South East London, who are looking to appoint a new Service Charge Analyst on a three-month temporary basis, with the potential to go permanent.
This will be a full-time position offering hybrid working (three days home working) and a negotiable hourly rate, dependent on experience.
The client is looking for previous experience of rent and Service Charge processes and basic accounting principles.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Ensuring the accuracy of service cost/charge, and investigating and reporting variances to budget, providing the Rent and Service Charge Manager with the analysis required for the timely production of management informationetting the Rent & Service Charge budgets
Calculating actual charges and working on the year end for Service Charge
Reconciling year end accounts for homeowners
Calculating and monitoring sinking funds, ensuring adequate funds are available for major works
Keeping accurate records of expenditure, including copies of invoices, at individual housing scheme level
Responding to enquiries from colleagues and tenants/leaseholders as required
Ensuring that they have a thorough understanding of Landlord and Tenant legislation and best practice for setting of fixed and variable Service Charges
Liaising with Auditors as and when needed
Experience and skills required:
Prior experience of dealing with rent and Service Charge processes
Experience of using housing and finance systems (SUN and CX desirable)
Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
Thorough understanding of Landlord and Tenant legislation and best practice for setting of fixed and variable Service Charges
Ability to organise own workload and meet challenging deadlines, often in the face of competing priorities, with minimal supervision
