Research Assistant In International Trade (X2 Posts)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic group at the University of Sussex as a Research Assistant in International Trade at the UK Trade Policy Observatory. In June 2016, the University established the UK Trade Policy Observatory (UKTPO), which is an independent expert group of academics that initiates research, comments on and analyses trade policy proposals for the UK, and also offers training to British policy makers other interested parties through tailored training packages. We have a sizable team of specialists in International Trade which includes researchers in economics, law, international business, and political economy. The UKTPO, which is based in the Economics Department of the University of Sussex Business School, has a high profile in public debate and good contacts with branches of government dealing with Brexit and International Trade.  It is recognised by the University as a Centre of Excellence that transcends disciplinary boundaries and engages in impactful research with international visibility. The main work of the holder of this post will be to work with, and contribute to, the research of the UKTPO Fellows on a series of projects, often requiring the manipulation of data, the systematic searching of text and/or the interpretation of regulations, trade agreements and policy statements, contributing to the writing of blogs, Briefing Papers, research outputs and commissioned work.  The successful candidate will have either an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in economics, an interest in, and preferably experience of, International Trade and trade policy and should be keen to engage in trade related research.
