Research Associate: Book Project with Prof. Yeandle

We are looking for a Research Associate with several years’ experience and an established interest in care, caring and advocacy on behalf of unpaid / informal carers to join the CIRCLE team. You will work with Professor Sue Yeandle on additional research and writing tasks to complete her academic book ‘Carers’ Organisations and their impact: the creation of a global movement’. You will undertake additional research, guided by Prof. Yeandle, and contribute to drafting of one or more chapters of the book (due to be published February 2026). The research will be mainly desk-based, using online and published sources, and focused on the period 2015-24. You will need: excellent English writing skills; experience of drawing on sources of multiple types (e.g., online publications / reports, policy papers, government publications, academic articles); the ability to accurately synthesise complex material; and experience of drafting text suitable for a broad policy and academic audience. CIRCLE is led by Co-Directors Professor Nathan Hughes and Professor Liam Foster, and comprises researchers working collaboratively across disciplines relevant to care and caring and to paid and unpaid work in diverse contexts. We conduct studies which aim to explore issues of equality, diversity, difference and fairness. CIRCLE’s multidisciplinary team includes professors, lecturers, researchers, PhD students and collaborators, plus a team of professional services staff.
