The Royal Free Campus of UCL Respiratory includes clinical research teams active in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and tuberculosis (TB). Professor Hurst (https://profiles.ucl.ac.uk/3662-john-hurst ) is an NIHR Global Research Professor with an active programme of work in COPD both in the UK and overseas, aiming to reduce the burden of COPD. This post will provide statistical expertise and data analysis for Professor Hurst’s global health research programmes in COPD, whilst supporting the wider department on other respiratory research projects. UCL Respiratory is part of the UCL Division of Medicine. About the role The post is an exciting opportunity for a post-doctoral statistician with a strong background in statistics as applied to health research studies who would like to grow that skills set. They will gain hands on experience while collaborating on research projects including both randomised trials and observational studies. They will advise on study design and will be responsible for planning and carrying out analysis of study data. The postholder will be located at UCL Respiratory (Royal Free Campus) and will be accountable to Professor John Hurst (UCL Respiratory) and Associate Professor Julie Barber (UCL Statistical Science). This post is available immediately and funded for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 5 years. As duties and responsibilities change the job des cription will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post holder. About you You will be a post-doctoral statistician with experience and expertise in analysis of clinical trial data. The ability to code in STATA is essential for this role and experience of coding in R would also be an advantage. You will be collaborative and reliable.
