Form of workApplications are invited for an Epidemiologist / Medical Statistician / Health Data Scientist to be based in the Division of Psychology and Mental Health. The successful applicant will work on a large research programme, ‘Prevention of Self-harm and Suicide’, which is led by Professor Roger Webb at The University of Manchester (Co-Leads Dr Rina Dutta, King’s College London and Professor Ann John, Swansea University). Utilising routinely collected data sources, this research programme is evaluating the effectiveness of population-level policies and public health interventions impacting suicide and self-harm inequalities in the short-, medium-, and long-term. This research programme is nested in a newly established Population Health Improvement Cluster (PHIC) with a specific focus on Mental Health, which is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Although the Cluster is led by the King’s College London, the postholder of the advertised position will be based at The University of Manchester.
You will hold an MSc and/or PhD (or equivalent) in Epidemiology, Medical Statistics / biostatistics, Health Data Science, health services research, or some other quantitative academic subject, have experience of managing and manipulating large and complex datasets as well as proficiency in a statistical software programming language in packages such as Stata or R and have an emerging academic publication profile.
