Research Fellow In Housing And Health

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health and Health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.  The Department of Public Health, Environments and Society is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join the Environment and Health Research Group at LSHTM to work on a large research project on Housing and Health funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The project aims to understand the health impacts of housing created through the new Permitted Development Rights in England. It involves a consortium of teams led by University College London (UCL) in partnership with LSHTM and the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA). The post-holder will be required to develop and apply models to quantify the health effects of Permitted Development Right housing, for example relating to exposure to temperature and indoor air pollution. Suitable candidates are likely to have a background in health modelling, epidemiology, environmental science, public health or a related discipline. Experience in conducting quantitative research and writing peer-reviewed publications would be an advantage. The post-holder will be supervised by Dr James Milner at LSHTM. The post is full time 35 hours per week and fixed-term, available until 31 December 2025. The post is funded by the NIHR and is available immediately. The salary will be on the Academic salary scale Grade 6 in the range £43,947 - £49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
