Job description

The School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED) is a multi-disciplinary school with a strong reputation for high quality international research, excellent teaching and impactful engagement with national and international organisations. The project “Resilience Beyond Observed Capabilities Network Plus” (RBOC N+) (https://rboc.ac.uk/) is a multi-disciplinary project involving staff from the Department of Planning, Property and Environmental Management (SEED), Alliance Manchester Business School and the Department of Criminology (School of Social Sciences), and four other UK universities (Coventry, Ulster, Lancaster, Cardiff) alongside practitioners (RUSI) and other institutional and industry partners.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow on a full-time appointment for 32 months to join the project RBOC N+ which is co-funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Defence Science and technology (DST).

  • How will cities be structured in 2050?
  • What concepts and methods can be used to simulate integrated complex urban systems, e.g. transport, utilities, energy or communications?
  • How can communities’ and government’s expectations and needs be used to inform the design and use of complex simulation models?
  • How can we make future cities more resilient before 2050?

What can you expect in return
