Brief Description
       

A great opportunity to be part of the Southern Regions Facilities Management Team, which covers our 3 main routes within the Region. This opportunity is to be the lead for the Wessex Route Facilities.

Whilst based at our Route Operating Centre in Basingstoke as the lead for Facilities within the route you will be responsible for Facilities Management (excluding stations) across the Wessex route, which includes corporate, operational, and local depot facilities.

The role is overall responsible for providing day-to-day facilities and soft services management for all Route accommodations supporting the Route Property and facilities Manager.  Interfaces with Network Rail teams and local Facilities Management contractors to maintain agreed levels of delivery.

        
        
About the role (External)
       

Key Accountabilities

1.       Assist in the development and implementation of the total facilities management contract currently in place and help in maintaining and enhancing the facilities services strategy for workplace locations nationally so that reliable, cost effective and welcoming services are provided in accordance with industry best practice.

2.       Work with colleagues to maintain and enhance the total facilities management contract with specific reference to end-user customer experience and financial performance.

3.       Oversee the management of the maintenance of workplace environment and facilities in compliance with corporate and statutory health and safety policies, Diversity and Inclusion strategies regulations and procedures, through rigorous contract management and the use of external auditing services.

4.       Advise on expenditure with respect to maintenance and renewal of the workplace environment and facilities, assisting in keeping expenditure in line with budget provision and consistent with the agreed strategy for the estate.

5.       Proactively develop and maintain relationships across the wider business, with particular focus on the sharing of knowledge and best practice with the strategic sourcing teams and developing relationships at a senior level with the customer to aid management of the facilities management contractor.

6.       Maintain and update full database information for each building on existing and anticipated issues, with proposals, projected cost and income and business case as appropriate.

7.       Assess and recommend repairs, renewals and improvement works having regard to costs and values and lease obligations in order to optimise portfolios.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Holder of NEBOSH or relevant health and safety qualifications
  • Proven experience in facilities management
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable

  • British Institute of Facilities Management member
  • Proven contract management skills
  • Proven experience of managing complex budgets
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of policies and standards relating to office accommodation
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Full driving licence
