A day in the life of an Ascent Scheduling Manager
As a Scheduling Manager, you will be part of a dedicated, experienced and focused team delivering outstanding and vital support to flying operations.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is enthusiastic, customer focused, has strong attention to detail and is passionate about leading a hardworking, high performing team in order to achieve the scheduling and delivery of the Flying Training Programme (FTP). This role is ideal for someone who is confident working within a fast-paced environment with complex and sometimes conflicting priorities to manage.

You will:
- Provide effective Line Management support to your team of experienced Schedulers based at Valley, including regular 1:1s, performance management, absence management and objective setting. This will ensure each individual within your Scheduling team are high performing, engaged and feel valued within their role and as part of the business.
- Generate and deliver, with appropriate notice, the Scheduling team roster, ensuring that staff meet the company outputs, ensuring the safe and efficient support of the FTP and ensure the most efficient use of the training system.
- Key to this post is the cohesion provided by comprehensive communication between all stakeholders in order to ensure that your Scheduling Team are well-informed and that Instructors are able to engage so as to deliver the most efficient and effective FTP. Liaise throughout the delivery period with both internal and external Stakeholders ensuring expectations are met and strong customer service skills are displayed.
- Oversee the use of and be competent in the use of TMIS to schedule classes for Live, Synthetic and Classroom training as directed by the Training Manager. Ensure effective resource planning with all appropriate parties.
What will make you successful?
You will already have a breadth of experience working within a similar complex and fast-paced environment. You will have a genuine desire to be part of a dedicated, forward thinking team and the commitment to act as a role model for peers across the business, coupled with a breadth of previous experience of scheduling or resource planning and also confidence using both Excel and Word.
It would be great, however not essential if:
- You have effectively led a team before
- You have had experience within a military aviation environment or alternatively experience within aviation, operations or Air Traffic Control.
- Previous experience of TMIS or similar computer Information Management systems may be beneficial.
