The Opportunity

We’re looking for a passionate, and curious Secondary Science LearningContent Writer who believes that companies have an important role to play in building a fairer, healthier, happier and thriving world for young people. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Science Learning expert who wants to make a change in the world and develop ideas that not only impact the lives of young people but create fame and change outcomes for the brands and organisations we work with.  

They will become part of our Content & Creative Dept – taking part in producing game-changing social impact-based campaigns and programmes which help leading brands connect purposefully with young people, their families, and their teachers. 

This person will have experience teaching in UK schools and will be ready to bring their passion for science and creative learning to our exciting campaigns.

We seek a Secondary Science specialist with a particularly strong knowledge of science at KS3 and/or UK nation equivalents. They will work on a range of content that supports young people’s engagement with STEM, building science capital and opening their eyes to the opportunities science can offer.

They will also develop wider learning content for secondary-aged students around a broader range of topics including PSHE, wellbeing, skills and careers.

About you

With a strong grounding as a science teacher, you are looking to take the next step in your career beyond the classroom while continuing to make a difference to young people. In the classroom, one of your strengths was creating innovative content to engage learners. You delivered science content or programmes from science and STEM organisations in the classroom and know what makes a great resource. You’re passionate about science and STEM education and how this links to careers in STEM. You have a point of view on how brands can connect with young people and support teachers through powerful content. You have a genuine interest in supporting science capital for young people from all backgrounds. You have a broad interest in the UK education landscape and the issues that young people, their families and teachers engage with. Professional content writing experience desirable.

Location

With offices in both England and Scotland, we welcome applicants who are experienced teachers with a background in any UK nation. We have offices in London and Edinburgh and this position could be based in either.

The Role

This role demands a solid grounding in classroom practice and is perfect for an education professional who is ready to take their innovative approach to lesson planning beyond the classroom, reaching young people across the UK.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Develop, write and proof creative and innovative educational science resources in response to client briefs. Liaise with a wider team of strategists, education writers and subject experts to create brilliant education resources. Create brilliant content that elevates everyday Science Learning with strong appeal to teachers and young people through links to the UK curricula. Partner with the comms, accounts, design and strategy teams to develop ideas and meet the client’s objectives. Tailor content and style to the client’s tone of voice and brand guidelines. Keep on top of the changing STEM education landscape across the UK and beyond. Understand your target audience (young people, teachers and families) and how to attract their attention. Build an awareness of what brands are doing to connect with the consumers of tomorrow.

Requirements

Essential

  • A qualified Secondary Science teacher (QTS in England or SFR in Scotland) with at least 5 years teaching in UK secondary schools (not TEFL).
  • A science or STEM subject degree.
  • Strong knowledge of science at KS3 and KS4 or equivalent.
  • A great copywriter with an eye for detail and faultless grammar.
  • Awareness of language/vocabulary used by teachers in different phases (EY, KS1, 2, 3, 4). An organised self-starter, calm under pressure, able to work to briefs and meet timelines.
  • Able to take in feedback in an open and collaborative manner. A team player who will form an integral part of the Learning & Development team while working flexibly with different teams across the agency.  
  • Content writing experience beyond the classroom. This could be professional education resource writing or other examples that show your way with words.
