We are seeking a self-employed, qualified and experienced Bookkeeper to join our small, friendly team. You must be able and willing to work from our office in Wood Green every Tuesday from 10:00 to 13:00, and work 2 hours flexibly over the week (which can be based from home).
You should have a proven track record of supporting and transforming small businesses, helping them to scale and become more financially efficient. You must have the skills and knowledge to take full responsibility for all bookkeeping tasks, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial transactions. There is also a requirement to undertake some practical hands-on tasks. Experience with QuickBooks is essential and experience with Xero will be beneficial as we will be transitioning to Xero in 2024. Experience of using Wix would be a huge benefit.
The role is initially 5 hours per week, but there is potential to increase as the business grows.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable processes, including reviewing and processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and ensuring timely payment
- Collating all purchase invoices (physical and digital) and uploading to Quickbooks/Xero
- Raising credit notes
- Credit control
- Preparing and submitting VAT return
- Set up organised financial procedures for the business
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation (electronically and hard copies)
- Managing incoming petty cash receipts, uploading receipts, tracking amounts spent and arranging reimbursements
- Coordinating a monthly payment run for anything not automated including petty cash
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accounted for and accurate.
- Transitioning over from Quickbooks to Xero
- Setting up a permanent sync from Square and WIX to Quickbooks/Xero
- Setting up and maintaining physical filing systems
- Liaising with the Accountant, HMRC, and other relevant parties
- Collecting all documents needed for Self Assessment Tax Returns in two different countries, keeping this information organised and ready year round
- Assisting with processing online orders on WIX and eBay
Requirements:
- Qualified Bookkeeper: Certification or qualification in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles
- Accounting Software Expertise: Proficiency in QuickBooks is essential (minimum 3 years) and experience of working with Xero would be beneficial
- Experience and/or confidence in quickly learning and working with integrating multiple Ecommerce platforms including WIX, Square, Slack, eBay, and bespoke software
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Integrity: High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound decisions
- Self-motivated
- Willingness to learn about the business, work within a small team and muck in when needed Experience of creating and setting up franchises would be beneficial
