We are seeking two dedicated SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join our SEN Inclusion unit within a Mainstream Secondary School. The ideal candidates will have experience as SEN Teaching Assistants, preferably in a Secondary School or SEN Special School setting, and must possess the necessary HLTA qualifications.
Day-to-day of the role:- Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs (SEN) within a Mainstream Secondary School environment.
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Facilitate small group sessions and one-to-one support to enhance students’ learning and social skills.
- Assist in monitoring and tracking the progress of students, adapting support strategies as needed.
- Contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere that enables all students to thrive.
- Utilise a variety of teaching resources and techniques to meet the diverse needs of students with SEN.
- Support the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and delivery as required.
- HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, either within a Secondary School or SEN Special School.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and the strategies to support them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and students.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging approach to student development.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to create a positive learning environment.
- DBS on the update service (one can be applied for via Reed).
