We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as SEN Support Assistants. If you have educational or care work experience with young people, particularly those with behavioural and mental health challenges, we want to hear from you.
SEN School: Our spacious and impressive partner specialist school in Thetford, Norfolk caters for 11 - 18 year olds who have experienced diffculty settling into mainstream education. This nurturing setting provides unique support to these pupils who may have specific learning disabilities or more complex communication and interaction difficulties (associated with autism spectrum conditions). Some students may also have social emotional mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Requirements: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Support Assistant:
- Educational or Care Work Experience: Demonstrable experience working with young people in educational or care settings. Experience with SEMH needs is highly desirable, but we are open to candidates with relevant experience and a genuine commitment to the well-being of students.
- Academic Qualifications: While Grades C and above in English, Maths, and Science are preferred, we are open to negotiating requirements based on your experience and passion for the role.
- Behavioural and Mental Health Support: Experience in supporting young people with behavioural issues and/or mental health challenges. Your ability to build positive relationships and provide effective support is essential.
- Resilience: The role demands a high level of resilience, as you will be instrumental in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for students facing SEMH needs and other learning disabilities.
- Physical Intervention Training: A valid, in-date physical intervention training certificate is preferred. For the right candidates, discussions around obtaining or renewing this qualification can be arranged.
