Role and Responsibilities:
As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will:
- Provide exceptional classroom support to students with learning disabilities, fostering independence while facilitating their learning journey.
- Collaborate with tutors/lecturers to deliver outstanding teaching, enabling students to meet their academic goals.
- Assist students in understanding and following instructions, ensuring equal access to education for all.
- Implement individual learning plans and targets, keeping accurate records to monitor progress effectively.
- Offer personalized assistance, including personal care, medication administration, and mobility support as required.
- Facilitate students' engagement in work experience opportunities, supporting them in securing placements and developing essential skills for future employment.
- Uphold confidentiality and adhere to college policies regarding health and safety, equality, diversity, and safeguarding.
- Contribute actively to curriculum planning and development, attending relevant meetings and training sessions to enhance your support skills.
Person Specification:
We are looking for candidates who possess:
- Experience working with students with learning difficulties and disabilities, ideally within an educational setting.
- A commitment to improving opportunities for students with disabilities, promoting independence and preparing them for adulthood.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for motivating others.
- High levels of integrity and respect for confidentiality.
- Adaptability and creativity in engaging students with diverse needs.
- Proactivity and initiative within a structured framework.
- Understanding of health and safety, equality, diversity, safeguarding, and SEND reforms.
- Minimum Level 2 qualifications in English and maths, as well as a Level 2 qualification in learning support or a related field.
Salary: Up to 24,195 (please be aware that for part-time roles the salary will be pro-rata'd)
