Smile Education are delighted to be working with a busy high school in Wigan area, to support with the recruitment of a SEND Teaching Assistant.
We are currently seeking a SEND TA to join the team from April 2024 until the end of the academic year. The successful applicant will be working with key pupils, either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, both inside of the classroom and in intervention hubs. Pupils needs are based around Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs therefore strong behaviour management skills are required to fully support pupils.
This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants looking for a new challenge. Or recently qualified Teaching Assistants looking for a long-term opportunity to continue their professional development. The school is based in the Wigan area, within proximity to Ashton-in-Makerfield, Haydock, and Billinge. The expected salary range for this role is between £85-100 per day, depending on experience level.
What to expect from applicants?
We would like applicants to have experience in supporting children or young adults. This can come from placements, an academic setting, or childcare settings such as sports coaching. Applicants without a formal qualification will be considered, provided they have a significant background in supporting children.

To be successful in your application, you should have experience in one or more of the following:
- Hold a Teaching Assistant such as Supporting Teaching and Learning. Applicants without formal qualifications but who have a proven background in supporting pupils are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants with backgrounds in related fields are encouraged to apply, such as support work
- Confident in approach to managing challenging behaviour
