Job description

About the Role:
Grade Level (for internal use): 11
The Role:Senior Analyst, Critical Minerals
The Role: S&P Global Commodity Insights, a premier sector-focused news and information provider, is looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Commodity Briefing Service team, part of the S&P Global Market Intelligence offering. The role will consist of building a view of supply and demand, and other metrics, to develop 10-year term price forecasts for key global graphite benchmarks for publication in monthly and ad-hoc reports, while also contributing to research across other Critical Minerals.
The Impact : S&P Global Commodity Insights and S&P Global Market Intelligence have solid reputations as premier sector-focused price- news-, and information providers. Our clients include a cross section of the broader Metals, Minerals and Mining sector from mining companies, traders, vendors, consultants, regulators/governments, and all those that operate within the financial and commodities markets such as Investment Banks, Investment Managers, Hedge Funds, Brokers, etc. We are a multinational organization that has built a robust franchise on data collection and standardization, layering on proprietary news and research, employing analysts, economists and geologists that are well regarded within the sector.
The Career Opportunity: In this role you will be part of a highly motivated and growing global group of analysts further expanding our footprint in the commodity space. You will raise your presence as an authority on various aspects of the commodity supply chain, developing a new report focused on Critical Minerals. You will get exposure to product development across teams, work with experienced analysts on all aspects of the value chain, as well as gain experience on a range of other traded commodities. This will be a great platform for you to continue to grow and broaden your value professionally as either a contributing analyst, and where experience merits, as a go to contact among international media and our client base.
The Team / The Business : Our Commodity Briefing Service team provides in-depth expert insight into the metals and mining sector. Able to leverage off an unsurpassed level of experience and data, from worldwide exploration, development and production to strategic planning and acquisitions activity - this group delivers reliable, unbiased research and analysis drawn directly from extensive industry contacts, global news, and other information sources. Our high-quality products and services help clients identify, benchmark and value new business opportunities, monitor competitors and market trends, and act on strategies more confidently and efficiently.
Our Hiring Manager says: "I'm looking for someone with a curious, logical and intellectual approach to analyzing and evaluating fundamental, macro and market information with the ability to formulate and express ─ both in writing and in person ─ an accurate, cohesive and credible outlook and view. A particular interest to understand emerging metals demand pertinent to the global energy transition will be of particular importance. You will enjoy working in a team environment contributing to the broader goals of the metals and mining research group, while also liaising with colleagues across the S&P Global enterprise to capitalize on the organization’s widespread expertise and content. Having an ownership mentality for your analysis, you will be capable of independently developing existing services and building new areas of research".
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience as an analyst focused on battery materials or other Critical Minerals, be educated to degree level or above, and have an enthusiastic and keen approach to learning and developing on their existing knowledge of commodity markets. Experience in building supply/demand and price forecasting models will be advantageous.
Responsibilities: Including but not limited to:
