Research & Development
The Consumer Safety team is a key function within Reckitt's Regulatory and Safety department, ensuring the safety of all innovative and marketed products, driving safety by design and ensuring the application of risk assessment and safety compliance across the business.
The Device Safety and Biocompatibility team, within the wider Consumer Safety team, proactively works alongside multidisciplinary functions to contribute to the development of safe and sustainable medical devices and electrical devices throughout their lifecycle, within the Health and Hygiene business units.
About the role
Your responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to ensure the creation of high-quality and timely safety assessments as part of a team of technical experts to support the safety of Reckitt’s medical devices and possibly also the electrical devices. This will include authoring assessments, but also reviewing those of other team members. For medical devices, also support for the non-clinical parts of the regulatory dossiers will need to be provided.
This role will provide robust business partnering, mainly with the different R&D teams, but also other Reckitt functions, providing advice in project meetings and understanding business requirements.
The successful applicant will also provide support for improving processes and systems to ensure further efficiency, or to incorporate the latest scientific insights in the safety assessments of Reckitt products, through an ability to lead small investigations and implement improvement projects as necessary. To proactively work with global teams to ensure consumer safety, appropriate labelling and appropriate regulatory dossier build of Reckitt‘s medical devices. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that Company safety standards are applied.
As an expert within Consumer Safety, you will ensure timely delivery of high-quality safety documents, where relevant by supervising others.
Be a contributor and a subject matter expert within the safety organization with detailed technical knowledge regarding the biocompatibility testing of products classed as medical devices, particularly according to the regulatory requirements of the different regions.
The experience we're looking for
BSc (or higher degree) preferred in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and/or a related discipline with extensive (minimum 5 years) and demonstrable industry experience in the preparation and review of consumer product risk assessments and safety labels.
DABT and/or ERT is preferable.
Experience in the field of medical devices and/or the engineering safety of electrical devices is preferable.
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
Proven track record in active collaboration within internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to achieve objectives.
Pro-active, innovative, self-driven and persistent approach to results-oriented delivery.
Commercial awareness of corporate and operational business issues.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
