Job description

An exciting opportunity has opened up to work within Payments supporting across a broad number of activities and areas of specialism.   Working day-to-day with the Director of Payments (DoP), you’ll be responsible for overseeing and delivering activities that support the DoP in delivering their objectives and the objectives of Payments.

You will be responsible for working with the Payments Leadership team and other Senior Stakeholders across the Society to co-ordinate and drive forward activities such as leading a number of small projects and initiatives on behalf of the DoP, the continuing evolution of Payments within Nationwide and supporting the internal and external accountabilities of the DoP.

We are seeking someone who demonstrates a desire to make a difference, who can manage a broad range of activities and deliver outcomes in a complex fast-paced and dynamic environment.   Excellent relationship management skills and an ability to juggle and deliver multiple streams of work are essential.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting delivery of Director of Payments (DoP) objectives, reviewing and contributing to deliverables, and helping Payments achieve its strategic outcomes and ambitions.

Working across the Payments leadership team, ensuring that the outcomes and objectives of the community are being prioritised and progressed in line with the Society Plan.

Owning and coordinating the execution of initiatives or commitments of the DoP, including oversight and governance of SMCR activities across Payments and widespread engagement across our central communities (P&C, Internal Communications, Risk, Finance & Efficiency etc).

Supporting liaison with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g. colleagues, consultancies, regulators etc.) and acting as the voice of the DoP on key matters.

Orchestrate correspondence on a wide variety of topics, including material of a confidential nature.

Managing selected internal and external meetings and events and ensure that the DoP is adequately prepared for all meetings and events.

Your experience will ensure you quickly develop knowledge of the many elements of Payments and wider Community, whilst getting to grips with the Director of Payments priorities.

About you

  • Experience of working in a Payments environment and an understanding of the breadth of Payments activities
  • Experience or a working knowledge of key Payments deliverables and how they fit into the overall Society Plan
  • Experience of liaising with various external stakeholders including regulators, consultancies, advisers and delivery partners
