Senior Category Buyer

We are pleased to announce we are recruiting for a Senior Category Buyer for a well-known UK Manufacturer based in Leicestershire. This role would be joining at an exciting time where our client is looking to add extra firepower!

This role would be looking for an experienced Senior Buyer, ideally from an Engineering/Automotive/OEM background, that can come in make a big impact! You would be responsible for managing global supplier base, negotiating for best price and quality and working strategically to help the departments goals.

You would be able to deal with a fast-paced environment, as well as being able to mentor and help develop more junior members of the team as they grow and gain more responsibilities themselves.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for managing a selection of suppliers from your commodity group
• Manage a Graduate Buyer, helping with their training and development in the department
• Manage and own the sourcing and development activities of components for new model programmes to achieve key stage gates before handing over ownership to the Supply Chain Team for ongoing production.
• Develop a strategy for their commodities ensuring best value and quickest and most suitable sources for new model development programmes.
• Analyse supplier resources to ensure continued development support.
• Perform category management including strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract, performance and risk management.
• Evaluate cost data and quotation analyses for supplier selections.
• Identify cost saving opportunities and developing a strategy through VE or negotiations.
• Develop and maintain expert knowledge of their commodity's global supply market and ensure a suitable knowledge base is maintained for the company.
• Preparation of reports and presentations for their respective categories.
• Any other related tasks to support the daily running of the department.

Ideal Candidate:

• Number of years experience as a Senior Buyer
• OEM/Automotive/Engineering background
• Can work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to train and develop others
• CIPS qualified or working towards
• IT Proficient
