Senior Civil Engineers – Major Projects Directorate

Transport Scotland is the national transport agency, seeking to deliver a safe, efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable transport system for the benefit of the people of Scotland.  Transport Scotland is accountable to Parliament and the public through Scottish Ministers, with a budget of around £3.5 billion per year. Transport is a vital feature of the Scottish Government's focus on increasing sustainable economic growth, and transport investments and policies have major impacts on our economy, environment, and society.

The Major Projects Directorate within Transport Scotland is responsible for the design, assessment, promotion, procurement, and construction of major transport infrastructure projects included in the current Scottish Motorway and Trunk Road Programme and new projects emerging from the second Strategic Transport Projects Review (STPR2). The Directorate also leads and advises on procurement and contract management matters for Transport Scotland.

To help us deliver our responsibilities we are seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants to fill a number of senior grade civil engineering posts in the Major Projects Directorate. These are exciting and challenging engineering positions, contributing to maintaining our status as a Centre of Excellence for the delivery of Major Projects.

The salary range for Senior Civil Engineers from 1 April 2024 is £45,449– £54,419 (pro rata for part time). The role also currently attracts an annual pay supplement of £7,862 (pro rata for part time). Supplements are subject to regular review.
