The Data and Insight teams at British Airways have a wealth of business information, delivering extensive reporting and analytical solutions across the airline. However, as we explore cloud opportunities to boost our data science and business intelligence capabilities beyond the limits of our current on-premise solutions, the demand for new and improved data across BA, IAG, and our alliances has never been higher.

As a Senior Data Architect, you'll be an innovator and technical leader in the Data team. Providing expert advice and assistance, you'll guide BA colleagues in understanding business objectives, requirements, data, processes, and technology. Your responsibilities extend to leading the data modeling and integration strategy, covering all data storage environments comprehensively. You'll set the Data product strategy for your assigned BA business areas, collaborating with technical, analytical, and business colleagues.

Skills and Capabilities:

• Successful completion of significant Data Architecture assignments in Data and Business Intelligence
• Experienced and confident leadership in architectural activities within Data and Business Intelligence
• Good knowledge of all aspects of the data team, from acquisition and processing to exploitation
• Clear and logical problem-solving with strong analysis skills
• Experience in and contribution to applicable best practices/methodologies
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Numeric Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, or equivalent

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in cloud technologies and solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Expertise in data science and machine learning applications
• Strong understanding of data warehousing and big data technologies
• Familiarity with data governance and security best practices
• Hands-on experience with data integration tools and ETL processes
• Knowledge of modern data storage and processing frameworks
• Skills in programming languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, SQL)
• Understanding of DevOps principles in the context of Data Architecture
