Concern Worldwide (UK) is seeking a Senior Direct Marketing Executive – Cash and Alternative Gifts to join the London team on a permanent basis.
About our office:
Concern is currently trialling a hybrid model. Staff are expected to come into their base office once per week or the monthly equivalent i.e. 4 times per month. Staff are also able to flex their start and finish times between the hours of 7am to 7pm daily.
About the role:
To lead on the development of and successfully implement Concern Worldwide UK’s strategy for maintaining and growing income from individual cash supporters and Alternative Gift purchasers through a programme of fundraising appeals and communications.
Main duties & Responsibilities:
• Deliver strategic projects, within key performance indicator targets, that contribute to the development of the Public Fundraising and Engagement annual operational plan. Consistently analyse results, interpret trends, and provide recommendations on strategic marketing direction. Create and implement tactics for donor development and cultivation.
• Line management of 2 Direct Marketing Executives; including training and coaching, day to day task delegation, supervision and performance monitoring and appraisals.
• Full campaign management and execution in line with prescribed deadlines. To include briefing of agencies, sourcing/development of materials, managing data selection criteria, copy development, managing the approvals process, proofing, briefing Donor Care Team, campaign analysis and reporting, managing costs and invoice processing.
• Manage supporter development activity, to improve lifetime value of one off cash donors using techniques such as direct mail, emails and online marketing.
• Working closely with Supporter Development Manager to manage and optimise the Alternative Gifts offering, ensuring fulfilment and product offering is engaging and strong. As part of this product management reviewing and feeding into an Alternative Gifts product strategy, and working closely with Acquisition and Innovation teams to iteratively improve this product.
• Monitor and report on budgets and assist in building future expenditure and income targets. Work as part of the Public Fundraising & Engagement team to reach strategic targets.
• To work closely with the Analysis, Campaign Planning and Insight team to review campaigns and ensure that information is used to maximise income for future campaigns.
• Working with the team to select donors, and develop selection and prompting strategies to ensure donors receive next best action.
• To ensure that campaigns are where possible integrated or co-ordinated thematically, creatively and/or by target audience to maximise impact.
• Manage key performance indicator targets, that contribute to the development of the annual fundraising operational plan. Consistently analyse results, interpret trends, and provide recommendations on the strategies.
• Work closely Major Donors team to develop and deliver a mid value programme and funnel high value Individual Giving cash supporters into the Major Donor programme.
• To work with the Fundraising Teams to implement, and where necessary review, the Emergency Fundraising Strategy, in particular leading on the warm emergency strategy which can raise an extra £500k - £1M for the organisation in any given calendar year.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current legislation, best practice and industry standards around Direct Marketing and adhere to all relevant regulatory procedures.
• Travel to meetings overseas and in country where necessary & participate in sector consortia.
ESSENTIAL
• Proven experience demonstrating ability to undertake complicated procedures
• Demonstrable analytical skills and highly numerate with experience of keeping and monitoring financial & budgeting reports.
• Experience and knowledge of supporter development fundraising techniques including cash appeals, newsletters and email marketing.
• Experience of using a fundraising database for effective analysis of Direct Marketing campaigns and trend giving patterns
• Experience of working with external suppliers to deliver successful Direct Marketing campaigns
• Strong planning and project management skills
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written skills including experience of writing and commenting on fundraising copy
• Excellent organisation skills and experience of managing a varied workload
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent understanding of delivering excellent customer service/donor care
