RM Recruit is working with our a prominent public sector client based in Birmingham who are on the lookout to recruit a Senior Finance Business Partner on a two year fixed term contract basis. There is scope for this role to transition into a permanent role.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering financial expertise and strategic support across various departments. This role is critical in driving financial performance, supporting key decision-making processes, and ensuring robust financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading month end preparation and closedown
- Preparation of month end reporting to senior leadership
- Leading regular forecasting, analysis, and reporting
- Co-ordinating budget setting for new financial years
- Allocation of new funding and supporting budget managers with mobilising spending plans Developing reporting, forecasting and budgeting tools and methodologies
- Continuously updating processes and procedures
- Act as a senior advisor to departmental heads, providing comprehensive financial insights and strategic guidance.
- Develop and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach to financial management.
- Lead the preparation and analysis of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Conduct advanced financial analysis and modelling to support high-level business cases, projects, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying significant trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and procedures, promoting best practices in financial governance.
- Financial Planning
- Oversee the improvement of financial systems, processes, and controls in collaboration with the finance team.
- Utilise Oracle financial systems for effective financial data management and reporting.
As the ideal candidate, you will be Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) however, candidates who are QBE or Part Qualified will be considered. You will possess good experience of building financial models in Excel and possess experience of improving systems in a busy finance department. Public sector knowledge and experience is highly desirable coupled with eexperience of successfully building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
Proven experience as a Senior Finance Business Partner or in a similar financial role within the public sector is highly desirable coupled with good system knowledge. Oracle experience is highly desirable however, not essential.
Our client offers a fantastic pension package of c29% employer contribution and office presence is limited to twice per week at their offices in Birmingham.
