Job description

Are you driven to advocate for women facing marginalisation and exclusion, who have been let down by the systems that are there to support them?
Prospectus is partnering Women in Prison (WIP), a national charity that delivers support for women affected by the criminal justice system in prisons, in the community and through their Women’s Centres. They also campaign to end the harm caused to women, their families, and our communities by imprisonment. They are now recruiting a specialist Senior Housing Advocate to lead on the delivery of housing advice services to women in prisons and the community in South London.
As a Senior Housing Advocate, you will lead on developing effective accommodation intervention for women impacted by the criminal justice system. Working closely with a team of Housing Advocates, you will create an intervention that assesses clients’ housing needs, provides expert advice and support, and develops a support plan to address identified needs. You will lead the team to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders and will work in partnership with statutory housing departments, housing associations and community organisations, to advocate for women’s needs and provide solutions to accommodation issues, with a collaborative multi-agency approach.
To be considered, you will have significant experience of providing specialist housing advice and support and possess the ability to support women with a range of intersecting needs, including designing, and delivering trauma-informed, strengths based 1-1 and group intervention. This is a crucial role for WIP, and as such you will have previous experience of effectively managing relationships with key stakeholders as well as working in partnership as part of a collaborative and coordinated approach to support client’s needs. Knowledge of safeguarding practice, policy and procedures is essential, as is knowledge of the impact that contact with the criminal justice system may have on women.
This position is primarily based in HMP Bronzefield, with some travel to other Southeast prisons.
This post is restricted to women only as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9 paragraph 1, Equality Act 2010.
To apply please submit your CV only in the first instance (2-3 pages). Following your application, you may be contacted by Prospectus for an informal discussion and may be asked to provide further information to assist with the recruitment process.
As a specialist Recruitment Practice Prospectus is committed to building inclusive and diverse organisations, and welcome applications from all sections of the community, including those with lived experience of the criminal justice system. Prospectus invests in your journey as a candidate and are committed to supporting you in your application.
