Job Title:Senior Information Technology Officer

Location: Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS – ‘The Agency’) Headquarters, City Hospital Grounds, Lisburn Road, Belfast, ANTRIM, BT7 9TS; however remote working may be available for some of the working week

Salary: Band 6 (£31,365 - £37,890 per annum

Hours: full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Duration: Initially 12 months

Job Summary:

The post-holder will be responsible for the technical management of the Agency's Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure with particular concentration on system’s administration, information management, data communications, PC networks and ICT security. They will also manage the Information Technology (IT) support staff and IT Helpdesk service. In addition, the post-holder will assist the IM&T Manager with the development of technical strategies to support the Agency's ICT strategy.

Qualifications/Experience:

1a. Possess a recognised professional IT qualification or an HNC/HND or equivalent/higher qualification in an IT related discipline and have three years’ experience working in a comparable IT technical environment.

OR

1b. Have five years’ experience working in a comparable IT technical environment.

2. Knowledge of best practice for the delivery of IT services e.g. ITIL, ISO27001, ISO2000, etc

3. Practical experience of more than one year in the following areas:

a. Microsoft Windows Server environments including

b. Microsoft Active Directory

c. Microsoft Exchange Server

d. VMWare vSphere / ESXi

e. Managing a local area network

f. Relational database management systems

g. Information Extraction and Reporting

h. End-user support and troubleshooting

5. Ability to understand complex and technical subject matters

6. Effective planning and organizational skills with an ability to prioritise own workload

7. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to meet the needs of the post in full
