Senior Manager of Business Development

The Opportunity
As the Senior Manager of Metering Business Development, you will be accountable for delivering the Electricity Metering P&L and maximising growth. You will drive this by ensuring the right strategy is in place, translating the strategy into clear targets and executing against those targets through a combination of empowerment, delivery focus and openness to new opportunities. This should result in consistent, compliant and sustainable performance against the Medium Term Plan and judicious objectives ensuring they contribute to EDF Energy’s bottom line. This should also drive the compliance, H&S and operational agendas forward by ensuring all decisions align to compliance, quality & operational growth targets. As you will operate in an evolving context, adaptability and continuous strategy & product refinement are key.
This is a newly formed team, bringing together various existing parts of the current organisation. You will be responsible for building and maintaining a highly skilled, high performing team of commercial and metering professionals. You will ensure your teams delivers stretching and competitive commercial targets. An integral part of this role is maintaining and improving employee engagement, development and motivation. What you’ll be doing
The Metering Business Development Role is a highly skilled commercial team focussed role, delivering the Electricity Metering P&L and pursuing growth.
The Metering Business Development team includes four main areas –
o Commercial Strategy – Defining, delivering and continuously reviewing the Electricity Metering business strategy to maximise P&L and set and deliver growth targets in a (H&S) compliant, efficient and de-risked way. Balancing making the most of being part of the EDF group and identifying and delivering new opportunities for growth. Secondary responsibilities include Electricity Metering product ownership, internal cost policy ownership and alignment of other Metering and EBS strategies to the Commercial strategic intent (e.g., operational & IT strategies)
o Metering Business Development & Sales – prospecting, pricing & negotiating and agreeing structured and transactional deals for MAP and MOP services into the EDF Supply portfolio, EDF group entities and external counterparties. This is a £25m+ p.a. remit focussed on delivering the P&L and growth targets for the Electricity Metering business
o Partner Management and Delivery – Partner Management of key metering and supply chain counterparties, including but not limited to, (re-)negotiating agreements that provide superior value for money, overseeing delivery of key partner intents through best-in-class, data-driven performance management (including H&S, quality & compliance assurance and maximised Return-on-Investment), and maintaining relationships with key (prospected) partners and beyond
o Meter procurement – Procurement of relevant meters to ensure our install, exchange and maintenance activities are sufficiently well supplied to proceed as planned; focussing on cost minimisation and business continuity
Who you are
Being The Senior Manager of Metering and Business Development in EBS means you are driven to find new business opportunities and convert into sales. Demonstrating outstanding numerical and analytical skills with a growth mindset, you’ll also have the ability perform as a confident Business Development manager, confident in establishing and maintaining effective business relationships with customers and key stakeholders at all levels whilst also demonstrating strong influencing skills, and commercial acumen, ideally gained in a commercial or financial background.
You’ll have a strong knowledge of Business energy in the metering environment and their participants as well as being able to understand legal frameworks to assure compliance to processes, regulation and the wider legal system to support various debt follow-up scenarios whilst working in a highly regulated environment.
We’re looking for someone with proven experience in leadership and Metering and Business Development. Educated to degree level or verified demonstration of ability to the same level delivered in a working environment.
