We are responsible for defining the shape, size and working environments for the group’s future property portfolio. Working closely with divisions to understand their needs, the team translate business strategy, resource needs and how we attract and retain talent into a location strategy. We play a critical part in delivering our long-term strategy, including our dedication to Transform Ways of Working and our working environments, and our plans to simplify and optimise our property portfolio.
This role is responsible for developing the Group’s operational climate strategy, focussing on reducing the environmental impact of our buildings and our colleagues’ travel activity. An expert in sustainability, with experience in energy, buildings and transportation related net zero transitions, the Senior Manager will research groundbreaking approaches to reducing the environmental impact of consumption, work with suppliers to meet our bold environmental targets and help to position Lloyds Banking Group as an industry leader in sustainability.
What we need from you
Identify and mobilise initiatives to reduce carbon, energy, water, waste and travel and facilitate the delivery of these initiatives, including development of business cases.
Develop the strategies and leverage customer relationships to reduce energy, waste and water consumption and carbon footprint in line with agreed targets.Work in partnership with suppliers on the identification and delivery of sustainability initiatives which underpin consumption and environmental targets.Target opportunities to increase our biodiversity within our estate, bringing Nature closer to our People & Places. Own the reporting and communication of quantitative and qualitative information to external customers, collaborating with Group Sustainable Business and Group Corporate Affairs to provide timely and accurate data which supports the Group’s sustainability leadership ambitions.Collaborate to deliver excellent communications to a variety of internal and external audiences across a range of channels including articles, videos and face to face presentations.Ensure the Group adheres to environmental legislation including mandatory carbon reporting, working with suppliers to scan for emerging legislation and develop plans for compliance.Utilise and develop an external network of sustainability experts and collaborate with external sustainability bodies to develop insight and innovation.Collaborate with the Group Sustainable Business team and divisional Sustainability leads to ensure Group Property is a key enabler to Group commitments.Embed waste, energy and water efficiency across the Group as an integral element of the design process.Support development of the Group‘s utilities and energy strategy, including utilities efficiency and procurement.Challenge thinking to promote greater focus on colleague experience, within and across teams.Act as a role model for the Group’s values and behaviours, supporting cultural transformation within and across teams.Line management of three colleagues, who are subject matter experts in travel, colleague engagement, energy, carbon waste and water.Key Capabilities/Knowledge/Skills
Extensive knowledge of sustainability with demonstrable technical knowledge in buildings, energy, and transportation transitions.Relevant professional experience with appropriate qualification(s) in sustainability (desired but not crucial).Understanding of key environmental metrics, including carbon accounting and reporting.Ability to solve problems and deliver safe, sustainable solutions in partnership with multiple stakeholders.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience of engaging and influencing a variety of internal & stakeholders at senior levels and preparing and delivering presentations.Ability to simplify and present complex / technical matters to gain understanding and dedication at all levels of an organisation.Innovative and curious attitude, with a focus on commerciality of solutions.Experience of building strong collaborative working relationships across a divisional operating model.Experience of supplier management, in particular implementing innovation through a supply chain.Experience of leading teams and coaching others to be their bestAbout working for us
