Job description

Are you excited by the opportunity to bring engaging stories surrounding sustainable fishing to life, and share them with the public?

The MSC UK & Ireland team is looking for a Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to lead the delivery of exciting and ambitious campaigns that inspire consumers to source sustainable seafood.

To ensure our campaigns remain fresh, exciting and relevant, we need an innovative thinker, who can trial new approaches, whilst evolving our tried and tested activities, maintaining consistent communications for our target audiences.

You’ll be leading and delivering national campaigns with big name brand partners across the UK and Irish seafood supply chain, utilising the power of MSC’s brand and that of our partners, to spread the incredible stories and positive impact that MSC certified fish are making on our oceans.

We want you to help fishing communities to celebrate their sustainability and have their stories shared with the public and our wider stakeholder community. We also want fish and seafood that is certified sustainable to be promoted and supported by the UK public, through our effective use our marketing campaigns and Communications channels.

This role connects with many areas of the MSC’s work. Your working week will be varied: one day you could be building and promoting a new campaign, the next you could be working in collaboration with one of our major brand partners on a co-marketing campaign. It is incredible to see this important programme in action, and a great opportunity for anyone keen to translate this into digestible stories and content.

We’re looking for someone who has a real drive to connect with MSC colleagues and external stakeholders. You should be driven to get our important message out there and help people discover the wealth of engaging content that exists in our UK, Irish and global programme. We need:

  • a leader who will collaborate closely with colleagues within the UK & Ireland team (fisheries, commercial and marketing communications)

  • an agile and dynamic team player, who is comfortable working solo on and leading a campaign, and delivering our annual Sustainable Seafood campaign

  • someone who understands and appreciates the environmental landscape and be inspired by some of the feel-good aspects of sustainable fisheries

We look forward to hearing from you!

We’re an international organisation and our employees all demonstrate a level of cultural awareness, and value the diverse views and approaches relevant to the MSC program.

The MSC is committed to flexible working. The successful candidate will need to work from the London office for a minimum of 50% of their working time each month The remaining time can be worked from home.

Working at the MSC

The MSC’s vision is for the world’s oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Through our internationally recognised certification and ecolabeling program, well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded in the marketplace, through the leadership of our partners. Over 670 fisheries around the world, representing 19% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program and MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 66 countries.

The MSC is committed to the principles of equality and fairness and we welcome applications from all communities.
