About the role
East London Waste Authority (ELWA) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior
Project Manager to join our passionate and friendly team.
ELWA is the authority responsible for waste treatment and disposal in four East
London boroughs. We are looking for the right individual to contribute to successfully providing East London’s waste management services now and in the future.
ELWA’s waste services are currently operated under one integrated contract which expires in December 2027 and we are now transforming the way in which these services will be delivered in the future. This is one of the first large scale waste PFI contracts to expire nationally so we will be leading the way to ensure the expiry process is managed successfully.
The role is well suited to a candidate with complex project management experience who is looking to gain valuable knowledge and skills in contract management and transition, ideally with good multi-tasking expertise and the ability to promote cohesion with our stakeholders through excellent communication skills. A background in or knowledge of the waste management industry would be advantageous but not essential as we will consider experience in related fields such as engineering or asset management.

What we’re looking for
To deliver this role successfully, you will need the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Experience in a similar Project Managerial role, successfully delivering a number of projects whilst handling extensive data sets and detailed information to deadlines;
- Skills in consensus-building and partnership working across a number of organisations;
- The ability to work on your own initiative and multi-task is essential to achieve the results that will drive this vital project for the Authority;
- Knowledge of the waste management industry would be beneficial, exp
- Experience in related fields will be considered.
