My client is a leading company in the packaging and distribution industry, located in the vibrant town of Dartford. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone who has a keen eye for detail and a strong background in finance within a fast-paced environment.
Day-to-day of the role:- Checking, authorising and posting high volumes of invoices (GBP, Euro & USD) in a timely and accurate manner to meet weekly payment run scheduled deadlines. With our business being seasonal volumes between October and May can have up to 3500 invoices per month to deal with.
- Be required to set up payment runs every Friday and therefore have experience in using online banking payment systems.
- You must be proficient in the various MS Office suites. In particular MS Excel levels must be competent, as the use of spreadsheets is of paramount importance for finding information and the creation of certain supplier invoices from the variety of data sources sent in as backup data.
- Using our in-house bespoke accounting software for the weekly container upload creation from supplier packing lists.
- Dealing with high levels of queries, raising disputes with shipping & haulage companies and obtaining credit notes. Checking and reconciling shipping company statements on a regular basis.
- Share control of managing and distributing the Finance email inbox regularly through the day and answering the company switchboard.
- As we run a paperless office ensure all invoices are filed, approved and moved around our authorisation process in a pdf format.
- Other ad-hoc duties as required.
- Working closely with other departments to improve processes and efficiency.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Purchase Ledger role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and experience with Adobe software.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Must have own travel due to location.
