The Senior PV Field Technician oversees the construction commissioning activities for large number of projects and supports the Operations and Maintenance team with new product training and safe work practices. The associate will interact and have direct oversight with their supervisor regularly. The Senior PV Field Technician reviews the commissioning work performed by subcontractors and provides technical support and guidance to Engie O&M field service technicians as needed. Most activities can be completed without a supervisor’s advanced approval. This position is independent from the design and construction team.
This position is eligible to sit in California and will report to the Director, Project Management.
What you’ll do:
- Manage all commissioning activities for regional construction projects ensuring compliance with the program, safety procedures and quality standards requirement
- Prepare detailed schedule of the commissioning activities according to the project construction schedule
- Coordinate all commissioning activities with the Project Managers (PM), and Construction Managers (CM)
- Prepare and document commissioning and energization procedures
- Manage sub-contractors for specialist assistance at electrical testing
- Review all commissioning reports and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness, (Scoops)
- Train Engie O&M field electricians, provide technical support, and inspect/review work performed
- Work with project coordinators to ensure proper customer notifications and deliverables are provided
- Plan and schedule for timely project support
- Ensure all field staff and sub-contractors are compliant with security clearance and Livescan requirements of customers sites
- Complete required entries for internal project management, (Procore, MS Project, Scoops)
- Participate in the monthly operations teams meetings and lessons learned forums to discuss common design challenges and provide positive improvement feedback
- Evaluate projects with under-performance alerts and provide corrective recommendations and field dispatch to investigate as needed
- Work with supervisor on future vision of commissioning management and workflow improvements
- Sign off on projects upon successful completion of all commissioning tasks
What you bring:
- California Certified Journeyman Electrician required
- A minimum five (5) years journeyman foreman or supervisor experience in electrical installation work
- A minimum five (5) years of installation or maintenance experience with solar photovoltaic and battery backup/UPS systems
- OSHA 30 Certificate required
- CPR/First Aid and NFPA 70E Certifications required
- Collaborative and communicative: work across functional groups, including Customer Care, Legal, Contracts Admin, Business Development and Operations
- Contracts and Commercial skills: The position must be able to read and understand the Commissioning contract terms and requirements for the project
- Strong communication skills and delegation to a team of regional support technicians, construction managers, and engineers
- Analytical skills: The position requires the analytical skills to trend and analyze PV system performance and to understand and evaluate anomalistic behavior of PV systems
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and understand technical specifications, drawings and construction documents. Full Understanding of Solar PV systems and monitoring systems
Additional Information/Conditions:
- Ability to drive to job sites when needed (60%-80% of the time)
