About the role Collections and Resource Description (C&RD) is part of the Collections Management division within the Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford. We are currently looking for a part-time Senior Resource Description Assistant, with an advance knowledge of Czech/Slovak or Polish and at least one Western European language, other than English to join the Foreign languages Cataloguing Team. The team is responsible for the cataloguing of library materials in Western and Eastern European languages. The post holder will be responsible for cataloguing materials in Eastern or Western European languages as directed by the Team Leader. The bibliographic work consists of copy and original cataloguing as well as enhancing existing records to facilitate reader access to our collections. In addition, you will undertake a range of tasks relating to the distribution of materials throughout the Libraries Previous experience of bibliographic cataloguing will be an advantage although full training will be given to the right candidate You will assist with the movement of books throughout the department, using trolleys and other aids as necessary. This is a part-time, permanent role, working 16 hours per week. About you You will have experience of working with structured data. You will enjoy methodical, precise work requiring a high level of attention to detail. A flexible approach is necessary, as is the ability to work both independently and co-operatively with colleagues. Good written and spoken communication skills are also essential.
