This is a great opportunity to join our technology team as a Senior Software Engineer. In this role you will play a critical part in leading the development of scalable systems, software solutions and data pipelines. Your expertise will drive the transformation of our technology landscape to further our clubs' success both on and off the field. This position offers an enriching collaborative environment, and a chance to contribute to exciting projects in the football industry.
This is a hybrid role- working out of our HQ in Manchester 2-3 days a week.

Your Impact
- Lead the development, testing, and maintenance of advanced, scalable software solutions, ensuring they meet user requirements and design specifications, aligned to the CFG Enterprise Architecture standards.
- Architect and implement robust, scalable data engineering solutions, including data pipelines, that integrate seamlessly with the enterprise's existing systems, adhering to the Enterprise Architecture framework.
- Spearhead complex troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives, ensuring solutions are innovative, scalable and cost-effective.
- Provide technical leadership in defining and refining software development specifications and requirements.
- Utilise project management skills to oversee projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Champion DevOps best practices, focusing on software deployment in cloud-based environments, ensuring solutions are scalable and conform to the Enterprise Architecture.
- Maintain high standards of code quality.
What we are looking for
Essential
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- A strategic mindset, ensuring solution design and build is aligned with business goals.
- Very experienced in software development with proficiency in languages like Python, Java, Scala, etc., and experience with Big Data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) in a cloud-based environment (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Advanced knowledge and experience in SQL, database management, and designing scalable solutions that align with organisational standards.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and a highly analytical mindset.
- In-depth knowledge of version control, advanced DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple complex projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in leading projects and delivering the required outputs within challenging deadlines.
Desirable
- Relevant certifications in technologies, project management methodologies, and Enterprise Architecture frameworks.
