Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Software Engineer/Tech Lead to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and providing technical direction to a team (operated by our development partner), contributing to the architectural design, and actively participating in the development and maintenance of software solutions. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality software. This is the perfect role for a senior developer wanting to step into a more strategic role.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership:

• Lead and mentor a team of software developers.
• Provide technical guidance and oversee the development process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
• Coach others in appropriate Agile practices
• Provide a primary contact into the development team

Architecture and Design:

• Contribute to the architectural design and decisions for software projects.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability of software solutions

Software Development:

• Hands-on coding and development of complex software solutions.
• Collaborate with team members to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality
• Perform out of hours support as required for system incidents
• Ensure Software Engineers have appropriate tooling/reporting in place for problem resolution

Delivery Management:

• Collaborate with project and product managers to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
• Estimate and plan software development tasks and projects.

Continuous Learning

• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in technology.
• Provide recommendations for technology adoption and process improvements.
• Lead and mentor a team of software developers.
• Provide technical guidance and oversee the development process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
• Coach others in appropriate Agile practices
• Provide a primary contact into the development team

Skills and Experience

Essential

• University degree of at least 2:1 or equivalent in a relevant subject
• Strong analytical and excel skills
• Individual contributor, unafraid of rolling your sleeves up
• You are curious by nature and interested in making an impact
• Able to work autonomously in a distributed team
• Hands-on experience working with technologies like C#, React/Javascript, Postgres, GITHub in an AWS environment and API integrations to third parties and products
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
• Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience in leading and mentoring junior team members

Highly Regarded

• Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks.
• Strong DevOps focus and experience building and deploying infrastructure
• Experience or knowledge of:
  • Trading and investment systems
  • Order Execution Management systems
  • Foreign Exchange dealer systems
  • Cryptocurrency
