£49,498 - £61,269 plus a retention payment of £5,000 per annum.

We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Solicitor /Barrister/FCILEx to join our legal team and add to our collective value. The Birmingham & Solihull Family Drug and Alcohol Court (FDAC) will provide you with an opportunity of experiencing the successes of an alternative family court for care proceedings.
The Senior Solicitor/Barrister/FCILEx is open to those with supervisory experience, taking responsibility for the more complex and challenging cases, and providing guidance support to other members of the team. Conducting advocacy on contested and non-contested cases both remotely and in person.
We understand the need for a work life balance and currently we offer remote working with office attendance on flexible patterns and in accordance with business need and the requirements of the role to attend Court hearings and meetings in person.
About you …….
You will be a qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive, who is passionate about high quality service delivery and performance.
You will be experienced in family public law.
You will have the following skills and capabilities:
  • An extensive and proven working knowledge of the law relating to children and families
  • An ability to manage a complex caseload
  • Advocacy skills
  • Strong organisational skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Proven ability to lead and act proactively in group discussions
  • Supervisory competency, with clear and strong communication skills to direct, motivate and guide team members
  • An ability to maximise opportunities for self and others to learn and develop
  • Be innovative and forward thinking with an ability to translate corporate policies and objectives to team members clearly and concisely
  • To understand and react to the challenges facing an in-house legal service and local government
  • An ability to continually measure and improve performance
  • Must demonstrate an ability to assess the needs of customer/partners and meet expectations
