Senior Support Worker (Adults)
Location: Luton
Pay: £13.02 to £14.17 per hour temp to perm (Perm salary will be £25119 to £27334)
Permanent, 9:00am - 5:00pm
We are seeking a Senior Support Workers To provide support which enables people, families and carers to lead a better everyday life. To apply a strength based approach that focuses on improved outcomes which enhances and improves lives. To work flexibly, and in partnership with integrated services and professionals supporting people's environment, independence and wellbeing. Some experience in community work or in social care services in a paid or voluntary capacity.
Able to support individuals to access a range of activities/services within the community.
Skills and Experience
- Able to provide formal support to staff.
- Able to care for peoples physical, emotional and social needs in a way that promotes independence, choice and dignity.
- Able to read, write communicate effectively with a range of people in a variety of settings.
- Able to act as an advocate for individuals in all aspects of their day care experience.
- Able to respond and liaise accordingly in cases of emergency situations.
- Work as part of a team.
- Able to travel and work flexibly across bases to meet the needs of the service.
Role Overview
The role entails providing comprehensive personal, social, and domestic support based on assessed needs. Responsibilities include updating care plans, risk assessments, and participating in reviews with a person-centered and strengths-based approach. Face-to-face interactions will occur with individuals, families, and the public, sometimes dealing with challenging behaviour. The job requires a calm, sympathetic, and non-confrontational approach, utilising various communication methods in a multicultural setting.
The post holder is expected to mentor and supervise staff, make professional judgements, and respond to emergencies under supervision. Strict adherence to local policies, including safeguarding processes, is essential.
Assigned to a specific base, the post holder must be flexible, covering weekends, shifts, sleep-ins, and waking nights as needed. Regular travel for meetings and home visits is expected, with on-call duties
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 12 months similar experience preferred.
- For people from overseas just arrived in the UK, Overseas Police check required if not in the UK for last 3 years or had a leave of 1 month during the last 3 years.
- Good communication skills, with spoken and written English.
- Have flexibility in work schedule to meet the demands of the service.
- Willingness to achieve QCF Level 3 Care qualification.
- Able to work with people from all genders and backgrounds
- Already hold an Enhanced Adults DBS or willing to undertake prior to appointment.
- Available for starting work within a month.
