With more than 55,000 people in 40+ countries, working at Jacobs offers an exciting range of opportunities to develop your career within a supportive and diverse team who always strive to do the right thing for our people, clients and communities.

People are Jacobs’ greatest asset, and we offer a competitive package to retain and attract the best talent.

In addition to the benefits you’d expect, UK employees also receive free single medical cover and digital GP service, family-friendly benefits such as enhanced parental leave pay and free membership of employee assistance and parental programmes, plus reimbursement towards relevant professional development and memberships. We also give back to our communities through our Collectively program which incorporates matched-funding, paid volunteering time and charitable donations.

Work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for Jacobs. We’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business.

About the Opportunity

At Jacobs, we’re challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world’s most critical challenges for resilient environments, thriving communities, low carbon economies, energy supply, operational advancement, scientific discovery, and cutting-edge technology. With sustainability as a core guiding principle, we turn ideas into practical solutions that transform the world for good.

Our Water & Environment business is recognised as the No.1 Environmental Consultancy in the UK by Environment Analyst, and part of a company listed as one of the World’s Most Admired Companies in engineering and construction by Fortune magazine. Our Town Planning team is recognised for strong leadership and innovation in major infrastructure projects, working across the UK and Ireland and in wider global markets.

We are currently delivering numerous energy, transportation and climate resilience projects, including wind energy in the UK for prominent developers. To support continued success and growth we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with strong planning experience in the energy/renewables sector.

You will join a vibrant and friendly team, with opportunities to work on projects across a wide range of sectors. As a Senior Planner at Jacobs you will have the opportunity to influence positive outcomes for some of the most exciting major projects in Ireland, the UK and further afield.

We encourage you to achieve your career goals, whether that be in developing existing skills, or expanding your capability into new areas. We want to inspire and empower you to deliver your best work so you can learn, grow, and succeed, and make a real difference to the global community.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • A recognised planning qualification and chartered membership (RTPI). Where you are not chartered you will be supported to achieve this at the earliest opportunity for the entry route applicable to you.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in the context of UK (or devolved) town planning, Development Consent Order and/or energy consents legislation and practice.
  • Experience in analysing environmental, social and economic policy and legislation and communicating clear advice on consenting options.
  • Experience in customer facing roles and engaging in proactive consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable commitment to health, safety and security and inclusivity, the integration of project legacy into decision making, and advocating innovative thinking to improve project and legacy outcomes
  • Experience of bidding/tendering for internal and external opportunities and excellent commercial awareness
