Southampton City Council is seeking a Senior Waste Operations Coordinator to join our dynamic team.
As the Senior Waste Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing day to day operations, managing teams of drivers and loaders ensuring all bins are collected on time and staff feel valued and supported.

This is a role where no two days are the same and the applicant should expect a challenging but exciting work environment and an opportunity to join a team in the early stages of a service transformation programme.

Key Accountabilities of the role:

  • The role will directly line manage up to 3 Coordinators, holding regular 121's and conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Supervise and lead teams of drivers and loaders, providing guidance and support to optimise performance and morale.
  • Coordinate resources to complete scheduled bin collections to meet customer expectations.
  • Monitor routes and make necessary adjustments to optimise efficiency and minimise delays.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies, conducting regular inspections.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to resolve operational issues and make service improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of collections, staff activities and performance.

As a Senior Waste Operations Coordinator, you will hold regular meetings and workshops with your team, to listen, understand, and solve problems and to ensure staff feel valued.

Additional information:

  • Please note the salary quoted is based on full time hours (37 hours per week) 
  • The working hours for this role are 40.5 hours per week 
  • This is a permanent position.   
  • Please note that appointments are usually made at the bottom of the salary scale.
  • The starting salary for this role, based on 40.5 hours per week, is £42,892
