Service ManagerLearning Disabilities

We’ve got exciting new opportunities at Gateshead Council to join our Adult Social Care Services.

Gateshead is an exciting place to live and work and we are ambitious for the place and for the people who live and work here. We have a key focus on reducing health inequality and poverty and creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive irrespective of their starting point or background. We are demonstrating our commitment to this ambition, through significant investment in these new roles.

Adults Social Care play a pivotal role in contributing to the Councils Thrive Vision and these senior management roles will help us shape the future of adult social care and commissioning, performance and service development.

We’re a modern employer so it goes without saying that we’re family friendly and therefore support hybrid working. These are key roles, leading, inspiring and motivating a team of professionals so the successful candidates will need to be office based a few days a week.

Our new opportunities….

We are investing in our strategic capacity and have a range of new roles available across the service including a new layer of Head of Adult Social Care Delivery (x2) and two additional Service Manager posts (who will report to the Head of Adult Social Care Delivery).

Do you want to come and be part of our senior management team?

You will be driven to achieve the best outcomes for the people we support, and to enabling people to live independent and thriving lives.

And finally….

The successful candidates will be responsible for the operational management of the staff, budget and activities within Adult Social care to ensure it meets its service and financial objectives.

You will be expected to demonstrate you have strong leadership qualities within a complex organisational environment and an excellent understanding of health and social care systems, adults’ legislation, practice and procedures and safeguarding and regulatory frameworks.

As a member of the Adults senior management team you will be responsible for the development of strategies, policies and plans to achieve better outcomes for users and carers and you will therefore require extensive management experience within a social care or related service and working closely with partners and other statutory and voluntary agencies. Experience of strategic and project planning, change and performance management, financial competence and management and monitoring of budgets ae also essential for the role.
