Castle Wood School are seeking to appoint a motivated, enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking Site Services Assistant. The successful candidate will support the Site Services Officer in providing a safe, effective and efficient learning environment. Responsibilities cover general Site Services Assistant duties including opening and closing the premises, basic maintenance and repairs, porterage, waste management, emergency call outs and health and safety activities, managing contractors, general grounds maintenance and cleaning duties. Duties will also include ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and security is maintained to support and safeguard the welfare of all persons using the school premises.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will need to be able to cope with physically challenging duties and have good communication skills and be ready to deal with a variety of situations. You will need to work flexibly at all time and may on occasions need to amend working patterns to include mornings or split shift pattern to cover for holidays/absences. The school does not currently offer facilities lettings, however longer term we may do so in future the role might include some additional weekend working. Annual leave may need to be taken during school holidays.
We are looking for a person with:
- Previous experience of caretaking and security, ideally on a school site is preferred
- A repairs and maintenance background is required, ideally you will be qualified in a relevant trade e.g. carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating etc
- A full and clean driving licence is essential as you will be required to drive the school minibus on occasions collecting equipment and site supplies, filling up with fuel
Hours of work: 25 Hours per week (shift pattern to be agreed locally, initial shift pattern will be 1.00pm – 6.30pm, other possible patterns might consist of 6.00am – 11.30am or split shift 5 hours undertaken between 6am and 6.30pm
