Within Peoples & Places Solutions, we are focused on the integration of smart and Digitally connected placemaking with physical places to create better places. We are passionate about creating innovative and sustainable places that improve the quality of life for our clients and their communities. As the Smart Places and Digital InfrastructureTeam Lead, you will be at the forefront of shaping innovative and Digitally connected spaces that enhance the overall quality of life for communities. Your role will encompass three main pillars: Business Development, Team Development, and Project Ownership. You will have the opportunity to grow a dynamic team, foster creativity, and drive transformative projects that combine technology, sustainability, and community engagement.
We are a multi-disciplinary team and work on a wide variety of projects from individual smart buildings to neighbourhood-scale developments and city-wide strategies in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. We collaborate with colleagues in many disciplines, from urban design to economics and from social value to infrastructures such as energy and transport. We work in many sectors from local and national government to retail and from aviation to leisure and entertainment. We are looking for a talented and motivated Team Manager to join our team and help us continue to lead the way in smart and Digitally connected placemaking.
Key Requirements
  • Develop and execute business plans for smart and Digitally connected placemaking projects
  • Develop a team of placemaking experts in the development and delivery of projects
  • Manage project budgets and timelines
  • Capable of working on several projects at the same time and able to prioritise their activities
  • Must be a "details" person as well as being able to work well with colleagues from a variety of disciplines
  • Capable leader with a track record of managing and motivating diverse teams, including architects, urban planners, designers, engineers, and technologists.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building and maintaining professional relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and development within the team and the industry.
  • Hold key industry wide connections to support team business development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the realm of smart placemaking, engaging with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to create strategies that promote the team's services and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, nurturing long-term partnerships.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in placemaking and urban development.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of smart placemaking projects, from concept development to execution and completion. Ensuring that projects are delivered within budget, on time, and in line with client expectations and quality standards.

Here's What You'll Need:
  • Experience of developing and delivering strategies or urban planning projects for cities, regions, developments and communities to help them harness the potential of digital technologies
  • Experience of working with and delivering projects for organisations in relevant sectors, including national or local government and transport bodies, property and infrastructure companies, planning and urban design or the utilities sector
  • Have expertise in both relevant technologies (such as 4G / 5G communications, IoT, big data / analytics etc.) and their business, social and economic impact and their role in placemaking
  • Understanding of public and private sector funding and business cases
  • Experience and knowledge of a range of relevant sectors, such as transportation, planning, property development or utilities
  • Experience working with planners, urban designers and other built environment design disciplines
  • Master's degree in engineering, urban planning, technology, architecture or a related field
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or project management within the smart city planning, urban development, real estate, or technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including project planning, budgeting, and risk management.
