My client is a leading public sector organisation. We are partnering to recruit a Temporary Accountant for a 3-month contract with a possible extension.
This is an exciting role within an established team based in Co. Armagh
The organisation is currently working on a hybrid working basis which allows for working from home on a regular basis.
09:00 – 17:00 (Mon – Thurs) 09.00 – 16.30 (Fri) with flexible working/ flexi-time.
This will be a 17 hour contract and available working hours / days can be discussed.
Your new role
Your role as Monitoring & Compliance Manager is to develop and manage a programme to monitor the finances and activities of the charity sector in Northern Ireland. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring information is provided, analysed and appropriate follow up steps undertaken. They will also identify trends and work with the charity sector to improve compliance.
You will report directly to the Head of Compliance & Enquiries and will have some staffing responsibilities along with the following:
• Maintaining finance systems in line with business needs and relevant government guidance for handling and accounting for public money.
• Producing timely and accurate financial reports as required, and in line with government accounting regulations and guidance.
• Provision of financial planning and forecasting for business planning purposes and in-year monitoring.
• File and maintain accurate records on suppliers, procurement and staff to demonstrate compliance with audit requirements and specified procedures.
• Contribute to the maintenance of effective working relationships with internal and external auditors by providing information and records in a timely manner and addressing queries raised as appropriate.
• Contribute to the maintenance of effective working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers by keeping to agreed deadlines.
What you'll need to succeed
Qualified Accountant /QBE OR Part Qualified CAI, ACCA, CIMA
Have at least a total of 1 year’s experience, gained within the last 5 years, in any one of, or combination of, the following categories – full details including specific dates must be provided:
(a) Financial Management / Management Accounting
(b) Financial Accounting /Auditing
Experience of preparation of accounts in accordance with accounting standards
Experience of managing a team
Experience of procurement processes
Experience of working with the requirements of Data Protection and Freedom of Information
Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload
Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders / develop effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
Microsoft Office and workflow databases eg CRM dynamics
