Job description

Our client Lloyds Banking Group is a leading UK based financial services group providing a wide range of banking and financial services, focused on personal and commercial customers. On behalf of Lloyds Banking Group, AMS are looking for a SOX Consultant for an initial 6 month contract. The role will be worked on a hybrid basis with 2 days/week in either London or Edinburgh offices (per candidates preference).

Purpose of the Role:

The Finance Reporting Platform team have just undergone a large scale transformation. They now need to bring in a consultant to review their existing SOX processes. You would review their SOX approach across E2E IT Infrastructure and recommend changes, identify risks and suggest controls. They are using Oracle and, while their infrastructure is mostly hardware, there will be some Google Cloud.

Responsibilities of the role:

As part of a small team, you will be working with business and technology teams across the Finance Platform to ensure that technology risks are considered and appropriately mitigated as part of the delivery of the Oracle Strategic Ledger and Cost and Investment Management Initiatives in 2025.

Lloyds provide assurance over the transformed financial reporting processes and this involves analysing transformed business processes, including the use of technology within them, working with application owners and technical owners and shaping and assessing controls to ensure Finance Reporting related technology risks are adequately mitigated.

Reporting to the Finance SME, you will be able to use your expertise and natural desire for change to help evolve Lloyds' approach to assurance as they seek to place a greater emphasis on automated, preventative controls. Being able to respond to internal and external change will also be a key element of this role.

You will be:

  • Contributing to a small team who are responsible for ensuring financial reporting risks are adequately mitigated as part of a Finance Reporting Platform Transformation.
  • Critically reviewing and challenging the existing SOX IT approach and applying it across the end to end IT architecture to ensure Financial Reporting risks are appropriately mitigated.
  • Challenging existing approaches and enhancing the quality and type of controls.
  • Identifying, recommending and facilitating areas for control improvements.
  • Planning and undertaking assessments of the effectiveness of IT controls.
  • Providing advice on remediation actions.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Finance Platforms, including SOX IT SMEs in Finance.
  • Actively participating in driving and supporting the agenda on purpose, priorities, people and engagement.

What we require from the candidate:

  • Experience of technology risks associated with large scale business transformations.
  • Proven experience implementing SOX audits and related controls in a Financial Services environment (preferably banking).
  • Experience of using technology enabled solutions to improve quality and efficiency of controls testing or other day to day activities.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to work with people at all levels.
  • Deliver influential insight, challenge and advice whilst building collaborative relationships across the Group.
  • Good knowledge of SOX and its application in relation to technology in financial reporting processes - desirable.
  • A professional qualification in related field (audit, risk management, accounting) - desirable.
